If South By Southwest (SXSW) is an immersive experience that lasts 10 days, it can be very hard to come away with a concrete takeaway. You leave with your head literally spinning and a pocketful of business cards. Leading the “celebrities,” there was President Obama, Michelle Obama, Iggy Pop and Willie Nelson, as well as a gaggle of stars including Queen Latifah, Loretta Lynn, Kirsten Dunst and Sofia Vergara (Modern Family). If SXSW is unique because of the combination of film, music & interactive people, the best things tend to happen randomly on the side (e.g. backstage or in lines). And then there are also concerts and film premieres galore. All the same, many of the sessions provide valuable insights.
Making Change, IoT, Virtual Reality…@SXSW
If there was no new “periscope” app or gadget that buzzed this year, the technology that was the talk of the town was Virtual Reality. There was also a lot of talk about the need for change and how to effect change, in part through technology. There were plenty of sessions that focused on IoT, AI, big data as well as a few on Influencer Marketing, whether in Interactive, Film or Music.
In an effort to curate the takeaways, for all the sessions I attended, here is a selection of “recaps” via Storify. Each storify contains the best of the tweets for that session.
